The Affordable Connectivity Program faced an unfortunate conclusion due to the depletion of the $14.2 billion budget allocated by Congress. As a result, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) set May 2024 as the final month for the ACP discount.
During this wind-down period, ACP households received three notices detailing the termination’s impact on their service and billing. These notices were crucial in preparing consumers to explore alternative options, such as switching to lower-cost plans or other low-income programs. Importantly, internet service providers were not permitted to charge termination fees if ACP households decided to end their service contracts early.
Even though the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) ended, we remained steadfast in our commitment to ensuring reliable connectivity for our customers. We proudly offer Lifeline phone services in 36 states and provide affordable communication solutions for eligible low-income households.
Lifeline is a federal program that has long supported discounted phone and internet services, helping bridge the digital divide and keeping our community connected. If you were an ACP participant, we suggest you sign up for Lifeline services to continue benefiting from reduced rates on your phone bills. The application process is straightforward, and our dedicated support team is available to assist you every step of the way.
