Incident Start 07/08/2025 07:45:00 AM (Pacific Time)

(7/8) 3:23 PM: Windstream’s downstream provider completed aerial fiber repairs in Oak Hill, WV that was caused by utility damage, which restored the 7 sites at the peak of the outage. The total impacted customers that had a loss of coverage were 989.

(7/8) 3:00 PM: The incident seems to be resolved. Verification of all systems is underway. A follow-up Resolved CIM, which includes additional details, will be provided within 15 minutes. Should the problem persist, an update CIM will be issued accordingly.

(7/8) 1:36 PM: Windstream has identified the cause of the outage to be utility damage that severed a 48-count aerial fiber located on US-19 in Oak Hill, WV.  The fiber is in their downstream provider’s network and they have dispatched a repair team to the site. Restoration is challenged by dense brush and adverse weather in the right-of-way (ROW), slowing progress. Once the area is safely accessible, their downstream provider will replace the damaged sections and complete fiber splicing to restore service.

(7/8) 11:14 AM: Windstream has confirmed a higher-level network failure. A technician is currently onsite to pinpoint the exact cause. The technician’s efforts are expected to clarify the root cause and guide the appropriate resolution steps, potentially reducing service downtime.

(7/8) 8:10 AM: Windstream has been engaged for further investigation.

(7/8) 7:45 AM: Engineers are currently assessing the situation. An update with additional details will be provided within 20 minutes.
